THE GOLF INVITATIONAL CHARITY EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.

Dear Community Friends,
When I came to this organization (Hillel of Northern Nevada) a little more than 2 years ago, we had 34 regularly engage students and around 50 students total on our list. Over the past 2 years, I have worked hard to identify the student and intersectional Jewish community, to focus on engaging Jewish students in a way that meets their cultural and socio-religious needs and allows them to focus on their studies, and to be a representative force at the various institutions we serve.
We have taught leadership skills, ethics, introduction to Jewish culture and history, introduction to Hebrew, basic Jewish thought, bias training, adulting classes, study skills, inter-cultural communication, and even some basic budgeting and cooking classes.
We have taken students to the synagogues and cooked them food. We have built intercultural and interfaith connections, and we have focused on the dignity owed every human being. We now serve hundreds of students between Reno and Elko, but we are at–and exceeding–capacity based on our current funding model.
That’s why events like our graduation gala and our weekend golf fundraiser are so critically important to not only our ability to serve more students but to our nonprofit’s very survival.
This year we have the privilege of being able to host a beautiful Graduation Gala at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa on Saturday, May 18th, where we are thrilled to honor Assemblywoman Lesley Cohen for her service not only to the Jewish community but also to the state.
Individual tickets for this event are $180, a table purchase is $1,400, and named sponsorship of a graduate’s table is $1,800. As a registered 501(c)3, ticket sales are considered a donation and tax deductible.
Help us earn the funds we need to be able to serve the students and help us honor the graduating class of 2019 as they embark on their lives and integrate everything they learned during their college years, both inside and outside the classroom.
I personally hope to see you, my neighbors and friends, at the Gala interacting with graduating students, their parents, and the Nevada legislators in attendance. If you cannot make it to one of our events, please consider making a donation to our Hillel, and sharing the information about our upcoming events with those who may be interested.
