We would please like to run an appeal in the newsletter announcements leading up to this event requesting donations from the congregation. Below is adapted language from our previous appeal:
On Friday afternoon, May 10, 2019, Temple Sinai will provide the lunch for 60 homeless youngsters and ten staff members at Eddy House, Reno’s homeless drop-in center. The facility provides breakfast and lunch through the week but is closed on weekends so the Friday lunch is the last real meal some of the folks will have until the following Monday. To help cover this, we bring enough food so that the kids can take lots of leftovers with them at the end of that day. Recall that Reno is reported to have the largest population of homeless teenagers of any city our size in this country. If you are able to make a contribution, please donate at the Temple Office or online ONLINE HERE (https://sinaireno.org/donate/) using the donation form on our website. (Just select “Donate to a Fund or Campaign” then “Other Campaign” and put “Eddy House” in the field.) This is a mitzvah we are privileged to fulfill.
