“A community is too heavy for anyone to carry alone.”
~ Deuteronomy Rabbah 1:10

Temple Sinai is a community and we rely upon the energy, commitment, and expertise of our members in order to fulfill the vision and mission of our synagogue. The work of our committees makes this possible. The committees allow members to apply their individual knowledge and talents in service of the synagogue community. Serving on a committee can also result in closer relationships with other members of Temple Sinai. Committees provide training for future synagogue leadership as well as opportunities for personal growth and Jewish learning.

The board strives to establish an environment for creative discussion and to have a broad group of congregants involved in making decisions that affect us all. We invite you to join one of our committees. Today I’d like to highlight just two committees that could benefit from more volunteers: Fundraising & Special Events (FASE) and the Library Committee.

FASE plans and hosts several events during the year that serve one of the five core parts of Temple Sinai’s mission: promoting Jewish culture. Committee members are invited to participate by chairing a program or helping with planning and promotion or assisting at any of our events. Meetings are held as needed and past events have included: Lunch and a Movie series, The Biggest Little Sukkah, our Holiday Gift Bazaar, and Jewish theatrical and musical performances. Please contact Nicole Appel, Chair, at nicoleappel00@yahoo.com if you’re interested in serving on the committee.

The Library Committee oversees the operations and expanding collections of the Main and Youth Libraries. The committee encourages membership involvement through reading and learning programs and supports the students and faculty of our Sinai School. Members also practice tikkun olam through community outreach programs. Currently, the committee seeks two more volunteers: one to specialize in technology & media, and the other to transport book donations to the Northern Nevada Literacy Council. Please email Jill Flanzraich, Chair, if you are interested at: sinairenolibrary@gmail.com

Please consider contributing your time and energy, to help ensure that Jewish life continues to thrive in our community for generations to come.

Thanks!

Marilyn, President and Committee Member
