Temple Sinai is seeking input from our members about who would make a great ambassador and advocate for our synagogue. Our new fiscal year begins in July and we are seeking nominations for the Board of Trustees to begin July 1. If you think you know a current Temple member in good standing who would be a great candidate for board service, please nominate that person by sending their name to the Nominating Committee with reasons why you think they would be great for the board. The Nominating Committee consists of Howie Holden as Chair, Doug Goodman and Nurit Stites.

The Board of Trustees serves as stewards of Temple Sinai, seeking to help make us better in each of the five aspects of our mission: caring, learning, engaging in Jewish practice, and promoting Jewish culture and tikkun olam (healing the world). Board members provide oversight, direction and input as well as serve as representatives of Temple Sinai both among our membership and in the Reno community at large. We strive to make decisions that are in the best interest of our Temple, as we embark on a new strategic planning process and ensure a strong financial future, in which we will need to anticipate community needs. Serving on our board is a meaningful way to contribute to the congregation and the community at large.

An ideal candidate for the board is someone with a demonstrated interest in at least one of the five aspects of our mission: learning, caring, Jewish practice, Jewish culture or tikkun olam (healing the world). A strong candidate is someone with demonstrated success vocationally or as a volunteer who can bring particular talents and successes from other settings to bear at Temple Sinai. A model candidate is someone with strong Jewish values, great people skills, and unique perspectives who is capable of ethical and collaborative leadership.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to the Temple Sinai board, please click here to send an email to the Chair of the Nominating Committee describing the candidate and the reasons for nominating them.

Even as members of the Board of Trustees take the responsibility of board service seriously, serving as a board member is also a lot of fun and very rewarding! Thank you in advance for your thoughtful nominations.

Warmest regards,
Marilyn
