Temple Sinai’s Social Action Committee is volunteering to help staff the Overflow Homeless Shelter this winter.  Due to a severe shortage of homeless shelter space in Washoe County this winter, the City of Reno, ACTIONN, and local religious groups have partnered to open and staff an additional emergency overflow shelter from December – March.

If you’re interested in helping ensure that our homeless community has a warm place to stay during the upcoming winter nights, please join us.  We will be staffing the shelter from 8:45 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. on each identified date.  Shifts run from 8:45 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.  You can sign up for one or both on the same night.  We need a minimum of three volunteers to be able to commit to each date.

SCHEDULING: Please visit this link and sign up for shifts ASAP. This will allow us to confirm our ability to staff each identified date.

TRAINING: Attending the training is not mandatory for each participant. However, all participants must be trained before attending by someone who has attended.  You can also watch the training online to learn the basics and access necessary handouts HERE.

LOCATION: 4th and Record St. in Reno. We will receive a site map soon.
