I can breathe a little easier these days knowing we are finally moving in the direction of beating this pandemic along with the recent news from Governor Sisolak easing up on restrictions. If you have not already been vaccinated, please, please make sure that when you have the opportunity to receive your vaccine that you do so immediately. And afterward, if you are able,  please help others get to vaccine appointments as well. These are vital. Help yourselves–and those around you–to have the ability to breathe easier.

I want to thank everyone who joined us for the Semi-Annual Congregational Forum/Special Meeting. As always, there were some great discussions and we were able to update our bylaws. Transparency is always important and so, after having the opportunity to review the conversation and outcomes, I along with the Temple Sinai Board, will make some improvements going forward. We will be having a Robert’s Rules training in the near future geared towards the needs of Temple Sinai. We also realized that we can do a better job in presenting the material (bigger picture) of why bylaw changes are needed. Future meetings will reflect that. The final challenge we faced was the communication of the language. Russ Kotlicky will be leading two language discussion meetings (town halls) in the weeks to come to talk about another set of bylaw changes we will have for your vote in the May 2021 Annual Membership Meeting. These meetings will help those who are interested to have the needed discussion and amendments prior to the final board approval and then membership approval. Please reach out to Russ if you want to be included.

I also want to thank all of our committee chairs and auxiliary groups for not only being a special part of our organization but working so hard to meet all the challenges that we have faced during the pandemic. If you have not had the opportunity to be a part of one of our committees or join in on an auxiliary group, the Rabbis or I would be happy to point you in the right direction. One group that needs some extra special attention right now is the Men’s Club. Dave Levine and I are putting together a breakfast on March 14, 2021, to invite any of you who either would like to be a participant in regular Men’s Club events or to help take a lead in the upcoming year. Please email me if you would like to reserve a spot at the breakfast. More information will be included on our website soon.

L’shalom,

Michael
