R. Myra led us in discussion of Exodus 38:22 through 39:7. We discussed the records and utilized that discussion to review Hebrew numbers. We reviewed what we know about Bezalel and noted some striking facts about Oholiab who was assisting him. Oholiab is described as a carver, designer and embroiderer, an impressive group of skills. We noted the gold, silver and copper that was utilized in work on the mishkan and the gold that was cut into threads to be oven into the blue, purple and crimson yarns and fine linen.

Our artwork this week is by Jamaican-Portuguese Jewish visual artist, jeweler and writer, Anna Ruth Henriques (1967- ), Manucript (left) and Eye (right), both from her Exodus II series. In Manuscript, the document that led to the expulsion of Spanish and Portuguese Jews in the Inquisition is in the grey background while the bright orange rectangle in the foreground includes the tablets of the Ten Commandments, three Spanish coins and an indistinct document which highlights the choice between the two contradictory documents, the Ten Commandments and the Inquisition’s expulsion document.
